We’re looking for a Technology Business Finance Manager to operationally ensure Technology financial performance management across our Technology function. This role is about running Technology like a business and enabling the Technology Senior Leadership Team decision-making by improving visibility, transparency, and forward planning of key spend drivers.

 

This is a strategic Technology cross-functional partnering role, combining financial insight, governance and cost leadership best practices to enable disciplined investment and performance tracking.

 

The role reports into the Portfolio Performance and Reporting Lead and will partner closely with Technology Business Managers, Finance business partners, and Technology management responsible for the business aligned value streams, and enterprise-wide IT, Data and Cyber teams.

 

The role can be based from our Wolverhampton or Chatham and will require occasional travel between all OSB locations.

What you will be doing?

As Technology Business Finance Manager you will act as a trusted business management partner to technology teams and leadership. You will ensure the quality of financial planning and prioritisation within Technology and oversee the accuracy, robustness and relevance of financial information, supporting effective budget management, forecasting and performance.

 

Working closely with Group Finance who retain accountability for financial governance and reporting, you will enhance operational cost management within Technology, improve financial transparency and embed strong FinOps, total cost of ownership, and consumption management practices.

 

This role is ideal for someone who understands technology and technology cost structures, investment planning and financial governance, and can translate complex financial and technical information into clear, actionable insight.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Improve visibility, transparency and control of Technology spend, strengthening forward planning and ensuring clear tracking across initiatives and value streams aligned to benefits realisation.
  • Identify financial risks and cost optimisation opportunities to enable proactive, informed management of Technology investment and performance.
  • Coordinate information gathering for budgets and rolling forecasts, ensuring alignment to strategic priorities and operational plans.
  • Provide forward-looking insight into supplier commitments, contract pipelines and resource demand to inform investment decisions.
  • Support robust business cases and financial planning for complex, multi-year technology change programmes, including ROI and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Monitor technology and cloud consumption, identifying efficiency and optimisation opportunities.
  • Provide Technology operational data stewardship for financial data and strengthen technology related financial data quality, delivering clear analysis and insightful commentary to senior stakeholders.
  • Provide decision support to Technology teams and senior leadership on technology financial data, trends and metrics.

What's in it for you?

  • Base salary between £63,000 - £73,000 dependent upon experience

Do you have the skills?

We are looking for talented individuals who have the experience and knowledge set out below:

  • Demonstrable experience in technology financial management within a complex organisation with a deep understanding of technology cost structures (OPEX, CAPEX, vendor financials)
  • Strong experience implementing and supporting financial governance and compliance (including IFRS/UK GAAP) in a technology environment.
  • Experience using ERP systems and portfolio-level financial reporting tools.
  • Advanced Excel modelling skills, including scenario planning and performance analysis.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, practical insight.
