About the team

We are looking for a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Specialist to join our People function on a 12-month fixed-term contract, reporting directly to the Group People Director. You’ll work in close partnership with colleagues throughout the People function and the wider business to progress our DE&I strategy, ensuring it aligns with the Group’s Purpose, Vision, Values, and overall strategy, while strengthening employee engagement.

 

This role can be based in either our Wolverhampton or Chatham office and will require occasional travel between our UK sites.

What you will be doing?

As our DE&I Specialist you’ll act as an ambassador, role model and subject matter expert helping to deepen awareness of all aspects of DE&I, challenging unconscious bias, shifting perceptions, and fostering a culture where everyone feels a genuine sense of belonging.

 

With your strong communication skills and in-depth knowledge of DE&I principles and legislation, you’ll collaborate across teams to promote inclusive recruitment practices, design and deliver impactful DE&I awareness sessions and publish regular communications which celebrate our progress.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Chairing and coordinating OSB’s OurDiversity Network, ensuring active engagement from members
  • Planning and delivering an annual DE&I events calendar, aligning with national and global campaigns (Pride, National Inclusion Week, Black History Month, Disability Awareness Week etc)
  • Ensuring legislative compliance and maintaining awareness of emerging trends, making recommendations where appropriate
  • Leading the annual Diversity & Inclusion Survey: analysing results, identifying improvement areas, and sharing findings with colleagues group wide
  • Preparing and presenting DE&I updates, insights, and recommendations to relevant forums and committees

What's in it for you?

  • Salary between £55,000 - £60,000 dependant on experience
  • Hybrid-working (3 in the office / 2 working from home)
  • 28 days annual leave + bank holidays

This role is a 12 month fixed term contract.

  • Demonstrated success in driving DE&I strategy and embedding meaningful initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of best practice approaches across a wide range of DE&I initiatives
  • In-depth understanding of the Equality Act, protected characteristics, and wider DE&I legislation
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively and deliver impactful DE&I projects
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at all levels
