About the team

As a hands on Principal Cloud Engineer, you will provide leadership to a team of Engineers across the UK and India to build and secure OSB Group’s Azure‑native banking platform across Savings and Lending journeys.

 

The role will report into the Group Head of Cloud & Platforms and can be based our Chatham or Wolverhampton office and has the benefit of operating within our hybrid-working policy. This role will require regular travel to London.

What you will be doing?

As Principal Cloud Engineer, you will have a solid engineering and Azure cloud background to support the cloud transformation strategy through automated DevSecOps pipelines, seamless Mambu and Salesforce integration and delivering measurable gains in cost, reliability, and speed to market.  As a hands on role you will be writing code, maintaining pipelines, and solving incidents alongside coaching and mentoring your team of between 3-6 cloud engineers.  

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Lead on shaping Azure landing zones, network boundaries, and identity controls that satisfy UK banking regulation and OSB Group governance
  • Build and operate AKS clusters, Helm charts, and GitHub Actions release workflows with embedded security scanning and policy‑as‑code
  • Automate infrastructure with Terraform and Ansible; embed SCA, SAST, secret scanning, and compliance gates in CI/CD
  • Drive and deliver platform integration across core banking and CRM (via API’s)
  • Ensure reliability through chaos and DR tests and meet SLA’s
  • Lead the design and implementation of a robust, scalable, fully automated and secure cloud-native foundation and data platform

Do you have the skills?

We are looking for talented individuals who have the experience and knowledge set out below:

  • Track record and ability to lead a team whilst remaining hands on in building and operating production workloads on public cloud, with deep expertise in Azure
  • Demonstrated delivery of container platforms on AKS or equivalent Kubernetes distribution
  • Strong knowledge of Azure functionality/services and working within Agile methodology
  • Excellent platform integration (bespoke and package) skills from a Banking or Financial‑Services background
  • Persuasive communicator who translates deep technical content for diverse audiences.
  • Analytical approach to performance tuning and cost governance
  • Certifications in Cloud Computing (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, or Azure Solutions Architect)
