The underwriting department supports the Bank by processing mortgage applications for new and existing borrowers, ensuring that the Bank’s lending policy and appetite for risk are correctly applied. They adhere to the relevant regulatory requirements, with fair customer outcomes a high priority at all times.

What you will be doing

As an Underwriting and Completions Consultant, you will play a key role in providing excellent customer service and administrative support to the Bridging team, while ensuring the quality assessment of essential underwriting documentation.

 

You will be responsible for managing key stakeholder relationships through inbound and outbound calls with brokers and solicitors, as well as overseeing the management of a shared inbox.

Your responsibilities will include…

 

  • Providing an excellent customer service to both external and internal customers and other stakeholders involved in the mortgage process, including inbound and outbound calls with mortgage intermediaries, customers and other 3rd parties.
  • Ensure that all enquiries received are dealt with promptly, efficiently and in accordance with the Bank’s procedures.
  • Managing team inbox and responding to emails and other forms of communication within team SLA’s. Instructing valuations and keeping mortgage intermediaries updated throughout the application process.
  • Assess mortgage applications, supporting documentation and valuation reports in line with the Bank’s policy and standards.
  • Liaise with underwriters and legal where necessary on complex policy decisions.
  • Provide referral/ recommendations to Underwriters for offer approvals with rationale support.
  • Identify any potentially fraudulent activity and escalate any concerns to Management or the appropriate person in line with procedure.

In return for your commitment

We offer a base salary of £25,000 and a competitive benefits package including:

  • Previous administration experience within the mortgage environment
  • Confident speaking to customers on the phone in relation to mortgage application processing
  • Strong knowledge in stakeholder management, hitting KPI’s and knowledge of mortgages is desirable
