About the team

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Tax Manager to join our Finance team, located in Wolverhampton. We are seeking an experienced tax professional to play a pivotal role in the Group’s journey, assisting the Group Head of Tax with a number of initiatives including managing the provision of all Corporation Tax and VAT reporting. You will be the go-to person for advice on complying with UK tax laws. What you will be doing

In this role, you will support the Group Head of Tax in managing the provision of all Corporation Tax and VAT reporting, advice and compliance with UK tax laws.

 

Your responsibilities will include…

 

  • Carry out Day-to-day management of the preparation of the Group’s Corporate Tax returns - managing the team in OSBI responsible for preparing the returns, getting them in a position for the Group Head of Tax review. Initial preparation of papers to support filing positions taken, suggesting most efficient allocation of losses and group relief, and managing the external review by the group’s tax advisers. 
  • Support Head of Tax with preparing tax analysis for commercial transactions, and supporting other areas of the business in tax matters when needed (e.g. Securitisation transactions, Remote Working requests, Withholding Tax, Employment tax, Stamp Duty, FATCA/CRS etc.)
  • Manage the preparation of the Group’s quarterly VAT returns – performing an initial review of the sub-group calculations prepared by the Finance team, managing preparation of the consolidated working and Key Points Memo by OSBI
  • Manage the initial preparation of the Group’s annual Country-By-Country Reporting Return and Corporate Interest Restriction return to HMRC.    
  • Manage the preparation of the calculation of quarterly instalment payments of CT by the team in OSBI and explaining key points to Group Head of Tax to assist their review.
  • Help identify opportunities to optimise the Group’s tax position (e.g. R&D credits, capital allowances etc.), manage the process of making appropriate claims.
  • Manage the preparation of the Group’s annual statutory tax disclosures for inclusion in the financial statements. 
  • Manage the Group’s entity cost allocation process, and transfer pricing documentation.

In return for your commitment

We offer a base salary dependent on experience of between £65,000 - £75,000 and a competitive benefits package including:

Could you be the one?

We are looking for talented individuals who have the experience and knowledge set out below:

 

  • Recognised Tax or Accountancy Qualification (e.g. CTA, ACA) is essential.
  • Previous experience of working in a tax role (either in industry or practice) is essential.
  • Previous experience of providing specialist tax advice is essential.
  • Previous experience of preparing and submitting UK tax returns is essential.
  • Previous experience of working closely with HMRC is essential.
  • Advanced knowledge of UK tax laws is essential
  • Advanced knowledge of global tax laws is highly beneficial
  • Advanced knowledge of UK and International accounting standards is essential                     
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant accounting policies and regulatory framework is essential
